National Holiday and National Monuments

The history of France is like a puzzle with a lot of pieces. The monuments that embellish the city can prove it. The Arc de Triumph has a tomb for the Unknown Soldiers that died during the WW I or WW II. However, the question to ask is what that triumph might be? No country should be proud of being part of a war, but France fought for his liberty since the French Revolution and I assume that is still fighting for the respect of human rights.

In comparison the same event triggered the French Revolution and the Mexican war of independence, but France obviously went deeper through enlightenment compared to Mexico. In contrast, France fought against monarchy and church, and Mexico against Spain but used to be support the church. Both countries display their nationalism in the same way; we also attend the September 16th parade which is also a display of military objects. I believe it would have been better if Mexico have gone through the enlightenment in a deeper way, in order to flourish in art and critical thinking.

It is normal for any country to celebrate their heritage and culture; however it would be better if also humans were used to celebrate the earth as our home. Monarchies and governments fall but we are still living in the same planet. Hence, our real home is not our county but the earth. The ideals of free education and equal distribution of resources and income can be hardly achieved for a country if other countries are still fighting for those rights. For example, illegal immigration would not exist if all countries improve their quality of life at the same time. Nations are like individuals in a society, we need each other to live better.
