Museum d’Orsay Napoleon III decided to create a salon to show al the renegade art in…. The architecture of the museum demonstrates that was built as a train station because of the big clock that dictates each minute. Because of Degas, Van Gogh, Manet and others this museum is a must in Paris. Now, it is hard to believe that Van Gogh’s art was not considered art by the Academie Royale des Beux Arts. Today, some of the paintings are still scandalous, for example the origin of the universe by.. This painting is a portrait of the open legs of a naked woman. We cannot deny that the title was well chosen according to the painting. However, the expression on the visitors face was like looking a taboo straight to the eyes. My favorite paintings are L’dejeuner sur le Herbe and The Floor Scrappers. The first one shows two respectable men in the park with prostitutes. In the painting the main issue for me was not the men being in public with naked woman, it was the fact that woman were enjoying being appreciated for men, naked and free. Those women look like they were treated as equals in the conversation. The second painting displays tree men working scratching a floor. They were tired, without shirt and the light of the sun make us assume that the day of work was finishing. Those men were real, they look like the sweat, drink, and hence they are completely humans. The impressionism room can be resumed in a word: realism. Men and women doing real activities, moving and with expressions in their faces are showed in the paintings. This kind of art is the antithesis of what Versailles’s art would display. Perfection is not being portrait in the impressionism room but reality which is better. |
