It is well-known that humans poses something else than differentiate us from other animals. Questioning things is part of our nature; however the enigma is if that extra aspect makes us the kings or the guardians of the world. The difference is a royal family prevails for generations and definitely humans are not going to be in this planet forever.  We can see the earth as a home that we are renting, we cannot make major changes, just keep it in good conditions. Hence, we should act with responsibility toward the world.

Additionally, we can debate about our “superiority” compared to animals, but it is crucial to keep in mind that animals also have instincts that human species do not possess. Our lack of connection with our planet makes us more vulnerable to the weather and natural disasters. Also, we should be envy of the ability of animals to orientate themselves during migrations.

First of all we have to ask ourselves what means to be human. We are constantly fighting against our instincts and values, ethical and moral codes guide our life. However, we act hypocritical. One day we defend honesty and the other we log trees for richness.

A Spanish proverb claims that humans are the only animal that commits the same mistake twice. For example, even when in Mexico we are struggling against violence because the lack of education, we keep promoting ignorance. Hence, our “superiority” ends in a tie versus other species. As humans we also tend to live in our inner world, without caring how others are living. The study abroad experience made me realize that Mexican and American society should copy some aspects of the French culture.

If leaders of powerful nations learned what I learned in Paris, they would promote science and art. I always thought critical thinking and art were things that you learn separately, but if you know how to analyze a portrait you have the ability to analyze everything.
