Eiffel Tower

Paris has a lot of monuments, but how it would look like without the Eiffel tower? If you visit the museums and historical places in a chronological order you can easily see the progress of French society through history, the Latin Quarter, Clunny, Versailles, Museum d’Orsay and finally the Eiffel tower. The story behind this monument is like a love story.

An important question is why the Eiffel tower is made of steel? Maybe because Gustave Eiffel was an expert using steel, but the fact that the academy of beaux arts considered steel as a dirty material for art makes it more enchanting, because not even the experts in art can decide what art is. Most of the people were against the beauty of this icon but Gustave believed in his creation.

Now, the Eiffel tower it is an icon of freedom. Freedom of thinking and being against monarchy and church that tends to control society. He was in favor of science and critical thinking. Gustave Eiffel made obvious his love for science. While in Versailles gold was used to highlight the richness of the monarchy, Eiffel chose the names of scientist to “decorate” the Eiffel tower. The height plays also an important role, it is a statement: nothi
ng should be more important than human rights and freedom of thinking. In the upper level of the tower it is easy to see the Sacre-coeur  church
envying the Eiffel tower.

As a self-made man Eiffel is a role model for those who want to succeed in life because his form of art was avant-garde. The fact that he made the skeleton of the Statue of liberty made him a more respectable man.

I think the Eiffel tower it is beautiful not for the way it looks but for what it represents. More people around the world should visit the Eiffel tower as a way of express they are agree that nothing should be upon science, knowledge and freedom.
